Re: Sharebot Kiwi 3d printer settings

I'll contact Sharebot right away (in Italian!). My guess is that, since the settings are so obviously wrong, Sharebot doesn't have a copy of Simplify themselves and have taken no interest in this. Perhaps the right strategy for Simplify is to ensure that all printer manufacturers have a copy - grati...

Re: symmetric object with asymmetric support material

Brilliant Doug.

Many thanks.

Reducing Support Pillar Resolution from 4mm to 3mm did the trick.

Interestingly, moving the piece around didn't make any difference. So perhaps the mesh you refer to is generated relative to the piece itself and not to the bed?

symmetric object with asymmetric support material

Here's an object (that I did not design) which appears to be symmetrical.

Notice that Simplify (with default support settings) has only generated support material for the cylindrical bars that stick out on one of the two sides.

Any comments?

Re: Sharebot Kiwi 3d printer settings

I just ran the configuration assistant under 3.02 and this correction to the Gcode setup based on the manufacturer's printer user manual does not seem to have been made?

Please tell me that there is someone responsible for improving and keeping these profiles up to date?!!

correct way to delete old version after installing 3.02 ?

On Mac OSX, after installing 3.02 there are two folders 3.01 and 3.02. Both folders contain Uninstallers (and postUninstallers!). To delete the old 3.01 folder (to free up disk space) should one run the Uninstaller for 3.01 ? And the postUninstaller? Or will that cause problems for 3.02 ? In which c...

Sharebot Kiwi 3d printer settings

Just a quick note: autoconfiguration of a Sharebot Kiwi 3d gives, in the Gcode tab: 140 * 140 * 100 for workspace settings and an offset of 10, 4, 0 This lead to catastrophic results. As per page 3 of manual http://www.sharebot.it/downloads/NG/Sharebot_Cura_quick_starte_guide_ENG.pdf I set workspace...

Re: Bug or my bad model design?

Thanks. Both approaches work well and I'll try single-wall infill for fast prototyping, triple wall gapfill for serviceable product. Given the symmetry of the Y-shape I'll conclude that the problem is not space but that the slicer somehow becomes confused in there. It also looks like its algorithm c...

a WIKI so that users can slowly create a complete manual

On reflection Simply is not the only piece of (complex) software to not create a manual. But it sure would be useful to have one. Easier than browsing the forums and trial and error to discover and answer basic questions. My requests are: a) wiki pages on the site so that forum users can collate ana...

Bug or my bad model design?

In the following model of a cylinder there is a Y shaped branch that is entirely symmetrical with a width of 2mm (the same as the wall of the cylinder). I cannot persuade Simply to put infill in one of the branches. This is not a catastrophe but I'm keen to understand what is going on. Any suggestio...

How to create thin wall with 3 perimeters?

My objective is to print a hollow cylinder vertically with only 3 perimeters and no gap fill or infill. In order to create a thin wall with 4 perimeters I create a wall in Autodesk Fusion360 with a thickness = 4 Extrusion Widths Since my extrusion width is 0.42 (120% of 0.35, the nozzle width) I giv...
