layer height warning doesn't trigger on first layer

With a 0,4mm nozzle set to extrude 0.48mm wide tracks am set to print at 0.4mm layer height.

Did not notice 1st layer height was set to 200% from an earlier print.

Just laid down a 0.8mm first layer. Think it has worked, but there was not warning about the ratio.

Re: how to manage support separation when printing at large layer heights?

That was what I tried in the beginning. But a 0.4mm drop, even onto a nice dense infill layer, is enough to make 3-4 layers above delaminate. Or rather never laminate in the first place. I'm wondering if this "specify separation in layers" thing was a Quick Fix by the developers for Simplify 1.0. Su...

machine control panel: remember connection port

Each time I connect using the machine control panel have to remember to click on the PORT selector and go to the bottom of a very technical looking list to select the one port that has the letters "USB" in it. Otherwise of course it won't work. Suggest that: a) the software remembers the last choice...

how to manage support separation when printing at large layer heights?

At the moment I'm printing at 0.4mm layer heights.

What's the best way of handling the separation between the support and the part?

At the moment I'm leaving one layer of separation, but since that's 0.4mm the support doesn't function properly and everything droops.

raft "separation distance" should NOT apply to SUPPORT

In Additions / Raft / Separation Distance propose that the number set should ONLY apply to the vertical distance between the top layer of the raft and the underside of the PART. That, whatever that number, SUPPORT MATERIAL should always have a separation distance of ZERO from the raft. Does that mak...

Re: Request: Firmware Retraction

+1 from me (and +several from my friends)

doing it with scripts is messy because you have to modify every single profile which inevitably leads to errors.

But Firmware Retraction is wonderful and is there really any other way to dial your hotend/filament combination in?

auto layer height to get perfect top layer height each time

Currently printing a 2mm high model. Only with Simplify it's going to be 1.9mm high. Why? I'm printing at 0.2mm but my first layer is set to 150% (yes, I really do like to do that and it guarantees perfect prints over the whole bed area). So why not have a checkbox in the Layers tab for "auto adjust...

jog controls for stepping through sliced model

If one sets the preview to be by "line" and then slides the slider, the nozzle moves far too quickly and uncontrollably around the model such that it's impossible to figure out what it is doing. SUGGESTION: add jog controls of the form <<< << < > >> >>> which represent different forward and backward...

MacBook Friendliness

Quite a lot of Mac laptop users out there. I'm one. Below average at many things but probably not in using my computer. Nonetheless it's taken me 3 years of S3d usage to figure out that I can PAN in the model viewport by holding down CONTROL, performing a mechanical click and dragging. Until now I a...

automatically exit preview mode to action command

Suggestion: If you're in PREVIEW MODE and click on one of the "action" items in the toolbar that necessitate switching back to the parameter-workspace (eg Move, Rotate....Edit Supports) then switch back automatically whilst activating the selected command. Without having first to click on the button...
