refresh a new STL version into Simplify

Here is a classic workflow situation: 1) playing with manual support generation, decide the model itself could be impoved; 2) head over to CAD package, modify and save as .STL file; 3) move back to simplify, delete the existing STL; 4) add the new STL; 5) move the new STL to the right position in th...

gcode file incorrectly named

I have two stl files loaded into SImplify. But only one has a "tick" next to it and is displayed for slicing. It's the second one in the list of files. I slice it and save the gcode file. The name that is proposed by default for that gcode file is that of the FIRST file in the list, which is not the...

- kind of surprised it still hasn't been added when it's really just a tiny UI tweak to add a button to allow this choice

support angle confuses requirement for support

In attached file there is a slanting, roof-like, structure that requires support. The overhang angle is set to 55 degrees and no support is generated. At all. Which makes for one hell of a bridge. I think that's a bug. It seems that S3d is confused by the situation and misses the need to create a li...

fan for perimeter only

Just read:

We also like the option of only activating layer cooling for the perimeter lines, the infill is not cooled and therefore should maintain best possible layer adhesion.

Re: struggling to place support

Great insights!

Thanks a lot.

Setting the support pillar resolution to 1mm indeed was enough to have S3d generate the support automatically.

The printer is warming up! ;-)

struggling to place support

Am struggling to place support in the following situation (see image) It's a 30mm cylinder with a narrow groove in it (for a "circlip"). A couple of the errors are shown with red arrows - problem being the support is not touching the platform. (The groove is too shallow to just contain support all b...

Re: skirt not visible in preview from ABOVE bed

Thanks. Yes, on the fly it's easier to adjust for seasonal (thermal expansion/contraction) variations in the structure of the 3d printer by using Simplify's Z-offset than by updating the settings of the printer (and having to reboot the machine). Didn't appreciate it actually changed the display cha...
