Brim option for prime pillar

I've gotten dual filament printing working fairly reliably (filament switching with a Y adapter and a single nozzle), but one weak point is the prime pillar. It's heartbreaking to see your print get 223 layers high only to then have the prime pillar lose adhesion. I can make the prime pillar footpri...

Re: Help with dual extrusion infill

When I slice and check "Merge all outlines into a single model", I get the exact simplified infill I wanted: 4. Merge all outlines into a single model fixes infill but screws up letters.png But as you can see above and below, for some reason the slicer adds a layer of green under the letters and in ...

Help with dual extrusion infill

I'm trying to print a bunch of trophies for my pinball league. I designed them in OpenSCAD, and printed the first one: 1. What I am printing.jpg However while I was printing it, I noticed that the infill was unnecessarily complicated, wasting filament, increasing print time, and adding unnecessary f...

Dang - you're right. I was trying so many things I guess I got further confused. Will re-look at my issues more carefully.

Still confused about retraction

I'm trying to get S3D to not retract unnecessarily. For example, if I have "Minimum travel for retraction" = 1mm, why does S3D retract when going from one perimeter to the next adjacent one? If I'm printing 3 perimeters, it retracts when finishing 1 and starting 2 (even though they are next to each ...

Re: Why are there supports where there is nothing to support

Appreciate your help and tips, wirlybird. In this case it wasn't support bleed-through, it was crap in the STL that made S3D think there was a tiny horizontal "lip" inside the airway where it goes from vertical to angled. But I have had similar problems to what you describe (as recently as this week...

That did it - Beautiful! S3D handles problematic STLs so well that I forgot they existed!

Thanks.

I thought the same thing, but that's not it:

Why are there supports where there is nothing to support?

At a loss to understand why S3D is adding supports inside the tube - there's nothing to support:

Re: Color Change on Single Extruder

Here's a discussion I was involved in on how to do a filament swap on every layer using S3D with reprapfirmware:

I have it working pretty well!
