Re: 4.0.1 available for download but Simplfy 4.0.0 says up-to-date

@TKeller3D: I agree with you, and I also like and use S3D daily for my two printers. However, the update/fix rate is very low, and has been so for a very long time. New buyers should just consider if the current feature (and bug) set is worth the asking price, and if so, buy it. If the prospective b...

Re: What do I have wrong with support?

You can try to lower the support pillar resolution (currently at 4 mm, try 3 or 2). In addition it may help to set "Extra Inflation Distance" to something above zero (but don't overdo it, 1 or 2 mm should be enough). If that doesn't help, you will probably be better off by defining the missing suppo...

Re: Vase Mode

Probably issues with the model. If you post the STL file, poeple can look at it. A screenshot isn't enough.

That said, you can try enabling "Merge all outlines into a single solid model" (Advanced tab, under "Slicing Behavior"). Often this will fix issues with models when printing in vase mode.

Re: How to avoid clips on glass plate

Drop the clips altogether. Buy some 0.5 mm silicone thermal pads and put those between the glass and the bed. Cut the pads to suitable pieces that you spread out under the plate. They'll stick to the glass, and will keep the glass from moving, yet you can easily lift the glass off the bed for print ...

Re: Visual indicator of start point

I agree this would be a very welcome addition. The current method is a bit tedious.

Re: Hours to slice...never finish

Without the STL it is difficult to say, but you're clearly not asking too much of S3D, provided that the model is actually free of errors. Did you try running the error checks from within S3D?

Re: How accurate do you think S3D cost estimate is?

I've weighed printed parts quite a few times, and usually the weight estimate from S3D is more or less spot on every time. You will of course have to make sure that the input values (density etc) in S3D are correct to get accurate results.

Re: Smooth perimeters speed slowdown in S3D 4.0 as it was in

The actual numbers isn't important, the point is that the average speed is higher with v4, so total print time will be a tiny bit faster, not slower.

I haven't had S3D v4 crashes on my Win10 box either.

Re: Smooth perimeters speed slowdown in S3D 4.0 as it was in

Ok, assume you have three perimeters, and the speeds defined as 60 for inner perimeters and 40 for outer. With v4 you will have speeds of 40 - 60 - 60 (starting from the outside). With v3.1.1 you will have speeds of 40 - 50 - 60, so slightly slower due to the middle perimeter being printed more slow...
