Re: Smooth perimeters speed slowdown in S3D 4.0 as it was in

Good catch, but I'm not sure this really affects the print quality. The outermost perimeter is printed at the specified speed, and the inside perimeters are printed at the default speed. The smooth speed transition that was there in 3.1.1 for perimeters inbetween most likely didn't do much except in...

Re: Warning: Help > Reset All Settings will delete your prof

It seems both versions write to the same subkey in the registry, so they will step on each other's toes if both are used. The new settings in v4 will most likely not be affected by v3 (except probably by a settings reset), but any common settings between versions seems to be read and written by both...

Not seeing this. I have the same behaviour as before, it opens the previously loaded model when I start it.

Re: 4.0 is out!

On the face of it, the new version looks really similar to the old one. The interface is pretty much the same everywhere, but some options has been moved around a little, and some new options has been added. I guess a lot of what's really new is buried within the slicing engine itself. The install f...

Re: Vase mode failure

Sure you can get it to print, but it doesn't truly print in vase mode. Large parts of it will, provided that you check the box I mentioned for merging outlines, but when it gets up to the part where the handles attach, the toolhead will jump across to the other side. True vase mode is when the toolh...

Re: Vase mode failure

That model isn't really suitable for printing in vase mode, so I wouldn't even try it. The author also writes 2 shells, so why not just do that instead? To really see if vase mode is suitable for a model (other than experience), after slicing in vase mode, you need to inspect the preview in S3D care...

Re: XY jogging: Software goes beyond endstop?

@brian442: No his firmware and endstops are perfectly OK. What he is complaining about, is that S3D actually sends the command to move beyond the configured bed size. In other words, he'd like S3D to also include virtual endstops so that it would not send movement commands to the printer if those co...

Re: Gaps In Floor Outlines

Even if you follow Brian's advice to make the gaps smaller, you will still have issues getting a 3D-print completely watertight without any additional treatment. Adding a layer or two of epoxy will do the trick, though.

Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

I agree that designing parts for printing is clearly the most sensible way, but I think (as was suggested in the very first post in this thread) that S3D should have a checkbox to allow printing even details smaller than the extrusion width. However, this should be OFF by default, and S3D should jus...

Re: Autospace between objects

No, there is no such setting. I agree that it would have been convenient to have some user control over this, so perhaps you should create a feature request for it?
