Slicing hangs on large part using thin layers

I have attached a factory file. I have to set the layer thickness on this part to 0.3 or more or the slicing will hang. The software does not lock up - it seems to be chewing away, CPU is variable and memory usage climbs. If the layer thickness is at 0.3 it solves in a few seconds. I have let it run...

Re: Default com port?

But I think it also remembers the last port you selected. So if it was on COM5 and you restart the software (which COM5 is still plugged in), then it will re-select that port automatically. That hasn't been the case for me. I have to go into the machine control panel and switch it from COM4 to COM5...

Default com port?

Windows 10 here. My Makergear M2 lives at Com5. S3D defaults to COM4 (which is where an Arduino board lives) - so every time i start S3D I need to change the com port in the Machine Control Panel. I have looked around but cannot find any settings for the default com port.

Re: Support: Have Dense layers land perpendicular to underl

I'll play around with it a bit to see if I can find a pattern to the madness - and will share any FFFs that demonstrate bad behavior. Thanks.

Support: Have Dense layers land perpendicular to underlying

Been messing with the dense layer options on supports and i noticed that the dense layers build in the same orientation as the underlying sparse support layers. That means much of the dense layer is just falling in the gaps. Dense layers, it seems to me, should always build perpendicular to the unde...

Re: CubePro Quality for small parts

On the Cooling tab there are two options you should look at.
One is the speed overrides which will slow down printing on small print areas.
The other is the fan overrides which will speed up the fan on small print areas.
Both of those would help the overheating issues you're seeing.

Re: Feature Request: Provide support for 3D Mouse

yet another user here who has one of them wiggly things by the keyboard - would use it in S3D if I could.

Re: Pause printing until temp setpoint is reached

maybe it makes more sense to bump the fan speed for the first layer when I want to cut the adhesion - no response time/inertia issue with that option.

Re: How to improve supported layer quality?

Look at the dense support options in Simplify3D. That will create a raft-like surface at the top of the supports. They have a video about it on their YouTube page too OK, I think my main issue was a lack of understanding about the difference between support infill percentage and pillar resolution (...
