Re: Printing a threaded insert and accepting piece

There are a lot of overhang test prints out there which might be helpful in testing your setup. Here's my version of an overhang test - continuous from 40 to 80 degrees. For a standard thread you'll want to find a setup (layer thickness to width) that will be stable beyond 60 degrees. Also, make sur...

Re: Printing a threaded insert and accepting piece

Using a .4mm nozzle, I'd go to a .5mm extrusion width. The plastic expands a little coming out of the nozzle, so if you are running an extrusion width equal to your nozzle diameter, the plastic stream needs to be stretched a little during printing. 20% over the nozzle diameter seems to be a good num...

Please make an announcement like this when a fully tested and bug free version is available.
I would venture to say that there never has and never will be complex software from any company that is completely free of bugs. You'll be waiting for a very long time.

Re: 4.1 Vase Mode Defect

... is it possible to get a link to the download source? https://pinshape.com/items/14720-3d-printed-christmas-tree and I've attached the empty factory file here along with how I had the part scaled and positioned. very bottom of the part was not good for vase mode, so the first few mm are buried i...

[FIXED] 4.1 Vase Mode Defect

Downloaded a Christmas tree model to print Vase mode from clear PETG. S3D-Tree1.JPG I sliced with 4.1 and it printed with a spiral ridge defect on the part. I checked the model and I did not see the defect there. S3D-Tree4.10.JPG Sliced it in 4.01. It had a smaller defect in a different location tha...

Re: Large file size STL bug

I've been working with a model that has nearly 1.5 million triangles. It won't slice on 4.0, but has been working with 4.01. I have a factory file with two copies of this model in it with a different process on each copy. Just sliced it in 4.1 without issue. 10.5 million lines of GCode.

Re: November Development update?

Seems they need to evaluate their development process - perhaps bight off smaller chunks to be able to release smaller incremental updates more frequently.

Re: Gaps in top and bottom layers

But the new 0.35 nozzles are steel and the old one was brass. Can make the difference because they have different coefficient of thermal conduction. 303 Stainless Steel has 14% the thermal conductivity of 360 brass - so if enough plastic is being pushed through the nozzle a stainless nozzle might n...
