Re: Retract only when crossing open space?

you can do it yourself pretty easily. import 2 cylinders spaced apart. run the preview. you will see that it retracts when it moves from one cylinder to the other cylinder. NOW create a duplicate process and make each process one cylinder so each is in their own process now it will not retract when ...

Re: Problems with bad layers in a print

not minimum as in I can not go lower but minimum as in any less and I get voids. longer normal retraction does not seem to effect. this. I have not messed with it more since its "working" and I am getting acceptable results. when time allows I am going to try some micro adjustments. like .09 .08 and...

Re: Problems with bad layers in a print

OK I think I fixed it. I still don't know fully why it was happening but I think I got a fix. coast is not what I thought it was this should be clarified in the description. I thought coast meant extrude a layer stop extruding and then keep going x distance. what it really does is coast x distance a...

Problems with bad layers in a print

I am printing a model and the single perimeter section keeps coming out bad (voids in layers) rendering the part worthless I now know what it is doing but not the "why" or how to correctly stop it from doing this. I was watching it print and I finally actually saw it screw up. its the start of an ex...

Modifying a 3d model to be thinner?

I am working on a rocket I designed. its a complicated extruded shape. the booster is 2 similar shapes overlapping each other. for this reason I can't just make it a solid and print x walls because you will lose the inner wall of the overlapped area. problem is I made it a wee bit too thick so singl...

Re: Retract only when crossing open space?

I wonder what would happen if I simply turned off all "retract behavior" options all together as you suggest. the problem is I really do not want it retracting UNLESS its crossing open space. retracts always introduce the chance of error. the fewer the retractions you can do the better by far. so wh...

Re: Retract only when crossing open space?

retract between layers works fine but does not fix this problem. when I print layer x on part 1 and then move to layer 2 to print layer x the layer has no changed so no retraction occurs. this is where retract when crossing open spaces is supposed to come into effect but it does NOT if the two parts...

Re: Retract only when crossing open space?

Ok this is now legitimately a bug in my eyes. First. the setting retract every layer and retract open space "conflict" with each other (one disables the other) Second the real problem. Only retract when crossing open spaces is broken with multiple objects in separate processes. I just tried it (zip ...

Re: Retract only when crossing open space?

I love sequential printing sadly this won't work as these components are 165mm tall and too large volumetriclaly. with the new sanded PEI there is no way the printer will "knock" components off the bed without knocking it out of register. I have done that before. sequential and just let the arm knoc...

Retract only when crossing open space?

I thought I understood how this works but I am not so sure now. I had a print come out horrible. nasty stringing to the point it was pulling filament from the nozzle and causing in effect and result an underextrusion once it started printing again as it thought their was x filament in the nozzle and...
