S3D + (Lulzbot Taz 6 * Aerostruder) = Nice!

Hello! After struggling with the new Aerostruder on my Lulzbot Taz 6 I think I have resolved most of the issues. Aleph Object's tech support are clueless sometimes and that really sucked but I managed to correct the PLA and even pulled off a wonderful first time NinjaFlex print yesterday. Please not...

Re: Lulzbot Aerostruder cooling problems, now this is annoyi

I have come up with a cooling fan strategy to compensate for the over cooling of the Aerostruder. This is not a definitive answer but more of a start. The material I have been testing with is PLA Pro @ 215 C; Layer Temp. 1 0 2 4 3 8 4 16 5 24 6 32 7 40 8 50 9 60 10 70 11 80 8.png

Yup! I agree!

Lulzbot Aerostruder cooling problems, now this is annoying!

Hello! So the new Aerostruder from Lulzbot is causing me some headaches. The new fan is so powerful that turning it on causes the hotend to rapidly cool if you are too close to the print bed. The old settings of cranking it to 100% on layer 2 will drop the hotend temp so quickly the printer can erro...

Demo STLs to show new features in v4?

Hello! Thanks for the new version! Yay!

You guys should post demo objects and factory files to show off the new features. Kind of show us what you all were thinking and how to design objects with these new features in mind.

Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

So, my worthless 2 pennies on this topic. When I trick S3D to print walls the width of the extruder output the quality is surprisingly good. When I do it with other applications (read competitors) the results are less than appealing. S3D seems to have the control down to keep surface quality under c...

Re: Problems with printing 0.5 mm features

If you want to print the hollow cylinder as a single extrusion, then just go to the Advanced tab and enable the "merge all outlines into a single solid model" option. Then you can either enable vase mode, or just manually set the top/bottom solid layers to 0 and infill to 0% as well. That prints a ...

Re: Problems with printing 0.5 mm features

If you don't like this answer, then I suggest you do two things....add a comment to the below thread....and complain like hell to S3D support about them not listening to users on here! https://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3471 I see! I might have too. Very frustrating. Thin plastic par...

Re: Problems with printing 0.5 mm features

A couple things to check. What is the actual thickness of the wall on the part's drawing? You will want to try to set your extrusion width as a multiple of the wall thickness. So, if the wall is 1.6MM thick then .5 does not divide into it. For instance I had a part with a 1mm wall and I was using ....
