Re: Infill Type Question.

gyroid is great for this because the "lines" are "wavy" and not straight so the lines will straighten a bit while cooling rather than pull the edges inwards. having extra walls will help too. cuboid is faster to print but pulls on the walls much more as lines are straight

Re: connecting to a Raspi 4 possible?

You can use postprocess script to upload to octoprint, you can install wget and create script for it or you can use gcodestat to do that for you. In the github page of gcodestat: https://github.com/arhi/gcodestat you have explanation how to set it to upload file directly to octoprint when saving it....

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

installed 5.0.1, after installation "start" clicked, after 10 minutes did not start, killed it, started it again, 5 minutes and counting, still not started, using 5.1% cpu and 20.4mb ram (so not the same as 4.1.2 that uses 0% cpu while starting)

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

Nothing changed with the V4 server or software, so if that is also acting slow that certainly suggests something else external is causing the slowdown. You said you have a complex network at home - we have definitely seen other customers with complex networks where that was the cause of the slow st...

Re: both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

If you get rid of all the S3D data (Help > Reset All Settings), does the startup time get any lower? You can backup your profiles and factory files first before running that step, but it's a good way to rule out any existing data being the cause for the slowdown. nope, resetted everything, cleared ...

both 4.1.2 and 5.0 take minutes to start up

takes minutes (5+) for 4.1.2 or 5.0 to start... no cpu usage, no network usage ... just waiting waiting and then they pop up into existence .. sometimes they start immediately but in most cases more than 5 minutes

Re: What new features are in v5 that are not already available in free slicers?

Arachne Perimeter Generator This is actually where cura and slic3r are playing catchup, S3D had this in 4.0 (or 4.1) already many years before cura v5 and slic3r in 4.1.2 go advanced and you see single extrusion section in 5.0 it is in the same place 4.1.2.jpg 5.0.jpg I couldn't care less about iro...

Re: Ironing

That is only limited to the top surface of one final layer only in 2017, when that post that you quoted was written, the other slicers that supported ironing also handled topmost layer of the object too ... many iterations later "all flat surfaces" was included... while I never use ironin...

Re: Thumbnails in GCODE

S3D-Jason wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 6:17 pm Great suggestion! Do you know what resolution thumbnails you would want?
Cura generates 300x300px thumbnails
Prusa Slicer by default generates 16x16px and 200x200px but it is configurable

between 200x200 and 300x300 would be great, following same format as Prusa Slicer might be best
