Re: How do you change the directions of support lines to make it easier to remove

In the lower right of the page there is an editable list where you can put in your own angles. In my reading and experience, I have found the ultimate list: 0, 45, -45, -45, -45. The "0" will link together the other layers making an easily breakable, but still strong and reliable support structure w...

Re: S3D refuses to use extruder 1 in dual head configuration

I got a Chimera clone from my son for a birthday. Suffice to say it isn't of the E3D quality. The two heat breaks are different lengths (apparently). Anyway by level I mean have both of the nozzle be the exact same distance from the bed. I have to remove the head, fiddle with set screws, put the hea...

Why is layer 2 so much faster than all the others?

In my prints, layer 1 is usually at 10 or 20% of print speed. Then the second layer is printed whose speed is much faster than layers 3 and above. Why is the second layer always so much faster than the rest of the post-layer 1 speeds? Is this a bug, or is S3D wiping off the tip?

Thanks,

Get profiles out of the registry and into a profiles folder

The reasons for this are legion. I can't count how many times I have accidentally hacked a profile only to discover I went after the wrong one. If I didn't put the profile down in my notes I have to guess to get it back. If they are in a folder then they could be archived. Not only that, users shoul...

speed, fan level, first layer and others follow filament type

Instead of just temperature responding to material type. I end up having different profiles for different filaments instead of different profiles for different printers. Perhaps other settings should follow filament as well. I tend to change first layer, speed, part fan, flow rate, and sometimes eve...

Re: S3D refuses to use extruder 1 in dual head configuration

Never mind... tool == extruder (in this case). I missed a place that used "tool" instead of "extruder". And that made all the difference in the world.
Now, how to "level" two nozzles on one hot end (Chimera). Is looks like tedium to me... Hmm, I need a jig for this.

thanks,

S3D refuses to use extruder 1 in dual head configuration

I have a dual head Tevo Tarantula, just built and am trying to tune each head. BUT while I can get S3D to gen code to print with the left head (E0), when I try to print only with the right head it continually errors out saying under temp on the LEFT head - which I am not trying to use. What setting ...

Re: Not presenting correct bed size for circular plates

Hello, I have noticed that when setting up my new delta printer in s3d with a 110mm circular build volume that S3D does not display it accurately. It shows a much larger build plate that allows slicing of objects that are too large. This does it in the newest and older versions of S3D. This shows s...

Re: Necessary to Go Through Dual Extrusion Wizard Every Time

Oh, I think I see what you mean. I had been using the processes to save changes to my profiles rather than just making new profiles like you just suggested. That should save me a lot of trouble -- thanks! :D I STILL have the devil's own time figuring out what is a process and what is a profile. I r...

Re: First layer doesn't stick unless using a raft.

Currently, I can only get my wanhao i3 to print something if I use a raft. If I try and print something without a raft, the first layer just will not stick. It just clumps around the extruder head. However, if I print the same thing with the EXACT same settings, except using a raft, it prints perfe...
