Re: Odd issue with rafts

I figured out what the problem is...for some reason when you add a raft Simplify3D doesn't account for the extra layers automatically. Instead of keeping layer 1 as the first layer of the part...it counts the first layer of the raft as layer one. So all the start/stop printing heights defined in the...

Odd issue with rafts

I have a print with 4 parts on it that for the most part prints fine without rafts. However my Prusa bed isn't completely flat so that parts don't go together as well as they should so I want to use a raft to correct for warps in the bed. 2 of the 4 parts are the same height but when I add a raft un...

Re: Stiffer Raft?

If you stop the base at height X and start the part at the same height the 2 will fuse together pretty strongly. A raft has a separation between them with small areas of contact between. I'll have to figure out how to make those small contact points.

Re: Stiffer Raft?

That's kind of what I was thinking...I could easily design a platform then specify the infill type...but then how do I do the transition from the platform to the part? I'm going to pick up a thermometer today just to see where I'm at. I really want to be able to use PC for my RC airplanes but if I c...

Re: Stiffer Raft?

I haven't put a thermometer in the enclosure yet but it gets quite hot. Hot enough that my motors are getting very hot and I bought some heat sinks for them.

Re: Stiffer Raft?

I have. The parts warp and pull the metal PEI plate off of the bed even worse with a skirt/brim.

Stiffer Raft?

I'm trying to print using various materials like ABS and PC which have a tendency to shrink even when using an enclosure. Specifically I am trying out different materials that have good heat resistance characteristics to print my RC airplanes with. Since they are a thin wall print very similar to a ...

Re: Supports needed in thin wall print

Thanks Greybeard! I'll give that a try. Doug, Simplify3D is the recommended slicer for 3dLabPrint airplanes which are all thin wall prints with the top and bottom open on almost all the parts. That's the main reason why I bought the software...otherwise I would have stuck with the free software and ...

Re: Supports needed in thin wall print

I should mention if I reduce the support resolution lower to 2.0mm or 1.0mm I can place manual supports...however they disappear when I click the prepare to print button and if I create the gcode the supports do not print.
