Re: Z-Axis G-Code Offset

Hi Mike, Here's how it works 1) When you home the z-axis, the limit switch will engage twice then the printer will stop on the switch, that marks the HOME, or zero position. Any z-offset you have is ignored here. 2) The printer moves to print the first layer. The head moves up based on the layer hei...

Re: Simple Qestion - Do Stepper Driver Boards Go Bad?

For sure. It's usually a bit more complicated because nearly every board has integrated steppers, so differentiating between control board and stepper takes some work, but it's sorta irrelevant since if it's integrated, you need to replace the whole board anyways. Sometimes, the board will show you ...

Re: layer height

I routinely print 0.05 layers with 0.8 mm nozzles and 0.1 mm with 1 mm nozzles and there are no issues. What made you want to change nozzles to the same thing? Your extruder gear clicking speaks to a torque issue (assuming nothing wrong with motor/stepper driver, or filament tensioner), which given ...

Re: First Layer Width Question and Clarifications.

When it's useful depends on an interplay between printing material (PLA, ABS, PC, PETG, etc) , bed surface (glass, buildtak, etc), and nozzle width. Nozzle Width: For the same material, the larger your nozzle width, the less likely you need to mess with first layer widths. For example, if you run a ...

Re: is Simplify3D for a new inexperienced user?

My advice would be to start with a freeware program until you get your feet wet and see if 3d printing is something you enjoy. The Ender 3 can print from SD or over USB, but any freeware program I'm aware of, can print over USB, and of course you can always save directly to SD (if you have an SD car...

Re: Multiple models?

If you are referring to "tabs" for models, then no, you cannot. However, you can have more than one instance of S3D open on the computer.

Re: Perimeter bumps only on curves

Correct, it's not the size that matters, but the complexity and speed of the movements needed. The more complicated the motion profile is, the greater the chance you will have issues, which may be layer shifts, blobs, zits, etc from incorrect movement and/or extruder issues. It's difficult to say ex...

Re: Perimeter bumps only on curves

From what ARHI said, "- your electronics can't handle the speed of g-code (can't pass enough g-code trough serial port / can't parse enough g-code in time) so you have stops and slowdowns and you develop blobs" I would agree with that if you have the newest S3D already. Are you printing via SD or US...

Re: what am i doing wrong

Of the three numbers you gave us

Speed: 1000 mm/s
Nozzle Temp: 109 (assuming C)
Bed: 64 (assuming C)

Two of them make no sense.
