Re: Makergear M2 Configuration

jimc, Exactly. I think until 1.1.6 comes out (Clayton says they fixed the layer-to-layer z-index-then-fast-move sequence), I'll probably have that problem unless I define manual supports. When I use auto support generation, the supports are too far from the small end of the arch to prevent it from b...

Re: Makergear M2 Configuration

jimc, Looking REALLY nice! I'll take a look at my coast setting -- might be higher than I'm remembering... and I've been printing only MG black PLA so far. I haven't opened up my roll of ABS yet -- I've been watching the threads about adhesion and bed temperature and enclosures and trying to decide ...

Re: Makergear M2 Configuration

jimc, I've gone back to trying to get the MAKE Magazine Torture Test object to print cleanly. I'm getting pretty close now --- my only problem is that Creator puts the X/Y rapid at the start of a new layer BEFORE the Z-increment to the next layer, and I keep knocking over the little end of the arch....

Re: Program crashes on desktop

Joe, Understood. I've heard of a sequence of events like this, but I don't remember what the situation / solution was. IIRC, the user worked it through S3D support, so best to shoot them an e-mail at support@simplify3d.com . I suppose If all else fails they can kill your existing key and issue a new...

Re: CAN'T PROGRAM PART

22MIL, Might also zip through the options in the Repair menu, just in case there are some lurking artifacts, non-manifold stuff, etc. It doesn't sound like a units of measure thing though. In./mm. would leave stuff off by a factor of 25.4. 285/200 = 1.425 sounds closer to a square root of 2 (1.414) ...

Re: Program crashes on desktop

Joe, Glad you're making progress. To deactivate and return the key to being available, you need to be connected to the Internet. The key will be "returned" to S3D and you'll be able to use it to install on another machine. (You'll, of course, need to be connected the Internet with that machine in or...

Re: Program crashes on desktop

Joe, I'm running on a Dell Latitude E6500, Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53 GHz, 6GB RAM. I have Creator installed in Linux Mint 13 / Cinnamon 64-bit and in MS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1. I figure if it runs fine on this, it should run fine on your Dell laptop, at least if the video drivers aren...

Re: Request: More smarts in setting the extruder temperature

You are both right. Creator (and other machine control software packages) simply send the temperature setpoint (target) to the microcontroller board, and the firmware is responsible for closed loop temperature control. The controller in the Marlin firmware is a straightforward Proportional + Integra...

Re: Layer Height

Can't help you with #1 or #3, but as for #2, I can't see how Creator would run on the Raspberry Pi because of the memory and graphics requirements. Per the System Requirements spelled out on the "Creator Software" page http://www.simplify3d.com/creator/ : System Requirements: Intel Pentium 4 or high...

Re: machine dimension not change

Peppe64, In the main Creator window, go to the menu and select Tools | Options. This calls up the General Options dialog. Go to the Machine tab. That's where you define the dimensions for your machine. Also, after you've imported and arranged your model and added a process, you can override the bed ...
