Re: Converting from layers to mm for 'start/stop printing at height setting

It would be nice but a calculator really works just fine.. Xmm /layer height = layers for instance 6mm/ .1mm = 60 layers and the revers of course is 60 layers x .1mm = 6mm There is also the multi process wizard.... click it drag the red square to where you want to split the process, add the spot, t...

Re: Skirt won't print if global z offset is negative and larger than layer height

The problem isn't that I can't SEE the skirt because it is being displayed below the print bed, it is that the skirt ISN'T PRINTED AT ALL. I would understand if the skirt wasn't shown (or was 'hidden' below the bed surface), but stayed in the G-code and was printed at Z = -0.4mm, which in my case wo...

Converting from layers to mm for 'start/stop printing at height setting

Hi, with S3D 4.1.1 I'm using two processes to change from 'fast/coarse' to 'slow/fine' print settings for some small models. In order to get the right changeover point on the model, I am using a brim in the upper process so that when I 'prepare to print' the brim shows me where the second process st...

Skirt won't print if global z offset is negative and larger than layer height

Hi, I've been using a skirt on my small models, and for some reason it sometimes refuses to print. I searched around a while and found a note to the effect that if the global z-offset is negative and the value is larger than the layer height, skirt printing is disabled - WTF!! Anyway, this is exactl...

Re: With dual extruder can you turn one extruder off?

With my PowerSpec Creator PRO (MicroCenter clone of FF Creator PRO), setting the unused extruder temp to 0 does not work - the extruder temp gets overwritten by whatever was last in the printer EEPROM. However, setting it to a non-zero low value like 25 DOES work. On my printer this results in an un...

Re: Slicer failure for small scaling values

I print parts like this all the time by going to the Advanced tab, and enabling the "merge all outlines into a single solid model" option. That will make the entire part appear solid instead of hollow. So then you can set the number of outline perimeters to 1, set the top and bottom solid...

Slicer failure for small scaling values

I'm trying to print the 'twisted heart' STL file from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:42570/#files). The STL is 'hi-res' (approx 7.8MB). It loads into S3D fine, and will print at 100% scale, or anything down to about 50% scale. However, much below 50% and the 'prepare' to print functio...

'All Extruder' option for Ooze Shield Causes Crash

I've been using S3D for quite a while now, with excellent results. However, today I tried to set up a dual-extruder print with support and ooze shield, and S3D crashed every time when I clicked on 'Prepare to Print'. After reading through the support posts, it is apparent others are having similar p...
