I agree with dalew8abz, your bed is to cold. The reason that the demos work is simple they got no temp setting for the bed.
But I wonder why your Extruder temp. is even up so high it should heat up after the bed reached the temp.
Did you preheat the Extruder?

The rule of thumb is the thikness of a you layer hight (0.25mm) in your case.

I have to agree with Simplify3D, I work with Inventor at work in inch and at home in mm there is no problem at all not even with ASCII or Binary.
I run everything on Win7 with a Quad core and 8GB Ram.

Uncheck Supports G2/G3 that should do.
