Re: Octoprint compatibility

No, not at all. My workflow is to slice with S3D and then send the gcode file to OctoPrint. I've been doing it that way for over a year now and it works great.

Re: Shopping for a new printer

I'll throw in a recommendation for a Printrbot Simple Metal. I think it's the best under $1K printer you can buy right now. $600 with plain bed, or $750 with heated bed. http://printrbot.com/shop/assembled-simple-metal/ http://printrbot.com/shop/assembled-simple-metal-with-heated-bed/ It does have a...

Re: New support types?

You can set the support direction in the Support tab; I do this frequently to ensure that the support ends up perpendicular to the section being supported. Not sure what the benefit of anything other than a grid would be though.

Re: Print time estimates way off.

They're off because there's no way for S3D to know what kind of acceleration or jerk settings your printer has defined in firmware, or how those settings affect the actual speed your printer's motors are able to achieve. The best it can do is estimate based on actual linear motion and feed rates. Th...

Re: Auto Leveling printing in the air

Can you manually run a successful G29 command by itself? You may have to run a G28 first, or 'G28 X0 Y0' depending on your firmware.

What you're describing is typical of a broken wire to the autolevel probe, BTW.

Re: Slicer adding weird features.

Turn off Retractions and Tool Moves and screenshot it again so we can see the actual filament that S3D wants to lay down.

Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

How about "Use extrusion width as minimum wall size"? I could see this being difficult to code properly from an accuracy standpoint, though. You'd have to know whether to err on the inside or outside of the part/wall. Maybe that can be an option - "Use external dimensions as guide&quo...

Re: TIme estimate

Many people have this problem, and it's been discussed in this forum several times. Try searching next time before starting a new thread. The problem with time estimates is that in addition to being dependent on the complexity and size of the model you're printing, they are heavily dependent on some...

Re: Simplify "portable"

On the MAC they have hidden where they store customized profiles so when you "save" your changes they go somewhere that you can't access. There is nowhere on a Mac that you "cant' access". The S3D settings (at least for v3) and stored in ~/Library/Preferences/com.simplify3d.S3D-...

Re: Information about current line or layer disappeared!

Try restarting or reinstalling. It's still there for me.
