What setting is responsible?

So I recently printed a cone-shaped surface, about 1mm thick, and you can see the result below. The part of it without the tabs printed cleanly, but the layers with the tabs (they'll be used to hold the piece in place) are very rough. I'm guessing it under-extruded on those layers on the outside per...

Re: Opening Multiple Printers from Desktop (Solved)

Looks like updating to 4.0.1 solved my issue! I can now open the fff from my desktop and open as v 4.0.1. Thank you S3D Devs!

Re: Opening Multiple Printers from Desktop

Well, that method was a bust... I have Windows 10, so I went to the Control Panel, default applications, went to "Choose Default apps by file type." Found .fff, but the only options I'm given is to continue using S3d v3 or to "Look for an app in the Store." Sometimes I think Micr...

Re: Opening Multiple Printers from Desktop

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I had already tried both solutions... I have several fffs on my desktop, some were made with v3, others v4, all are opening as v3 (It was confusing at first, some of my settings were missing for the fffs I made in v4). I even resaved them as v4, but to no avail. I...

Opening Multiple Printers from Desktop (Solved)

I used to be able to open Simplify with the Printer I wanted to use by opening the fff from the Desktop. Now, I can still do it, but instead of opening version 4.0.0, it opens version 3.1.1. Has anyone else run into the same issue? I tried a search on the forum, but couldn't find the issue. I can op...

Re: Undersized holes

I've never had the problem you're describing, my prints are always offset equally everywhere. The only solution I can think of is to scale your model so that your outside diameter and hole diameter print with the same offset (so the hole is .742 and the outer dia is 1.008), then use the "Horizo...

Re: Settings for more accurate prints?

It would be nice if there was a mention of this in the Troubleshooting Guide https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/ . I was going crazy trying to figure out how to fix my prints. I think it is already explained here: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubl...

Re: Settings for more accurate prints?

My parts are very small, so I design everything to match my setup, but you could use Horizontal Size Compensation (under Other) to shrink or enlarge everything globally. Negative numbers make the outside smaller, but the inside bigger. OOOkay, now I understand what you meant. I was thinking it was ...

Re: Settings for more accurate prints?

I was thinking about doing that... but if I have a part that has both male and female fasteners, I would have to shrink the whole thing to make the male fasteners work, but then my smaller female fasteners of the part would require the corresponding part to be even smaller and so on. Let me try this...

Re: stutter on skirt and skirt only

What's your "first layer height" set at? It could be that when your skirt is printing, it's a little too high and isn't making immediate contact with your printing platform. If your first layer height has a lower percentage, it could be adjusting for this height issue, so you don't see thi...
