S3D employees rarely reply to posts, so I doubt you'll ever get a real answer. My guess is that it would skip every other layer like you originally thought. Your best bet is to test it. Good luck!

Many causes for this. Simplify3d doesn't know any of the limits your Firmware has set such as acceleration, max feedrates, jerk, and so on. It does its best to give you a very rough time.
