Re: Please add brim for support

I run into this problem occasionally when using only one support infill angle. I tend to only use one (as show in the picture at the top of the thread) because they are easily removed - they can be squeezed and will shear off easily. This works great with the support pillar resolution turned the who...

Re: is teh software still being developed?

It's coming up on a year now since the last update. Previous to that, it seemed we were getting minor updates every few months. In the 3D printing industry, a year is like an eternity. Things are changing very fast - Simplify 3D doesn't seem to be keeping up...

Re: Support Separation in dimensional increments, not layers

Rather than having a final support layer that is somewhat lower than the height for the rest of the layer, I think it might be easier and better to just modify the extrusion width (extrusion rate). This would probably work a bit better with direct extruders than bowden setups, but it seems that the ...

Re: Auto vs Manual extrusion width

The extrusion width setting is one of the most important and at the same time one of the most poorly documented settings. BaronWilliams did a good job of trying to explain this a few messages back, but unfortunately I think he may have presented too much information at once. I think simply renaming ...

Re: Bed shifts on Z during printing, forming blobs in layers

I believe this is fairly common first layer problem and I've talked with a few friends who've run into the same thing. Here are some my observations... I've only seen it on hotends with pointy tips (very small flat area surrounding the hole) It also seems to be more of a problem when the nozzle tip ...

Re: Printing small islands - stange problem

You have very accurately stacked layers there - typical of a Kossel. Great machines. I'd agree this is definitely a retraction problem. It can take a little while to get the retraction settings tweaked. You need adequate retraction to avoid stringing, but no more than necessary because it will slow ...

Re: New Da Vinci Owner

A lot of the problems that people have with the DaVinci are related to the cartridge chip and a break in communications with it. Cartridge resetters don't fix this problem. There is only one permanent solution - and you already know what it is.

Re: Shopping for a new printer

Do you live anywhere near a Microcenter store? The Powerspec 3d pro is a Flashforge creator OEM/clone (e.g. the controller board is a Flashforge board) and around here is it retailing in-store only for $699 . HTH I would second the recommendation for the PowerSpec 3D Pro. It's $500 cheaper than the...
