[SOLVED] Coasting Distance: Has no effect?

I've been using S3D for a number of years now, pretty familiar with it, but I'd never used the 'Coasting Distance' option : Have a bigger nozzle, getting some blobbing a the end of the extrusion that wipe isn't addressing, so I figured I'd try this. And try I have: Probably 5 different test-cylinder...

Thanks for the suggestion but: Not only is my ext mult tuned correctly (measured via my calipers) , it's only failing in that one section. lowering it would lower it for the whole print, which would make the surface quality suffer in other areas.

Re: Strange possible overextrusion artifact jamming hotend

I reprinted the same model, with nearly identical settings in Slic3r : Weird over-extrusion area is gone, so this is definitely software related, not hardware/firmware.

Re: How to setup filament profiles in v4

Not a thing that S3D does, unfortunately. Similar question was asked here:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7957

I have a spreadsheet of data for each filament I have to re-enter every time I swap filaments.

Re: Strange possible overextrusion artifact jamming hotend

But in the gcode preview, it looks totally fine: gcode_back.JPG So I don't know what's going on, any thoughts? I've attached the factory file for inspection: moai.factory And here's the gcode: moai.gcode Other stats: * custom core-xy printer, running RepRap Firmware * Using S3D 4.0 * .6mm volcano no...

Strange possible overextrusion artifact jamming hotend

I've done some printer upgrades, and got tired of printing benchies, so I used this Moai model for a change: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:144668 I printed a couple a few inches tall, and they worked fine. So I thought I'd print a 'big' one: Came backa while later, and it had airprinted the top....

Re: How do I correctly set up profiles for different filamen

While S3D does many things really well, allowing it's users to save separate "filament profiles" isn't one of them unfortunately. In additiion to other slicers mentioned above, Slic3r does this really well, allowing you to save out separate "profiles" for "you printer hardwa...

Re: Overhangs not being supported

And, I'm sorry to say, this isn't fixed in 4.0 . Just today I had to manually place supports for about 10 minutes on a head, since none of the upper teeth were 'automatically supported'. And had I not gone though and meticulously checked every one of them in slice mode, I would have had a failed pri...

Weeeeel, considering I originally posted this Jan of 2015, it looks like no "quick fix" is in the works :(

Re: Overhangs not being supported

upsm: Sure, it's linked to on the first post.
Set your automatic support angle to 45 and "Generate Automatic Supports": It will be unsupported.
