Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

How has this not been implemented/fixed yet? I can't think of anything simpler than slicing a wall that is the exact same width as the "Extrusion Width"...

Retraction Tuning

I've got a new E3D Lite6 hot end (with a bowden tube), and it's not handling retractions nearly as well as my previous hot end, even with the same nozzle diameter. The problem appears to be retraction since it prints cleanly when there is no retraction. Because the 6 Retraction parameters on the Ext...

Re: Why are thin walls sliced with infill?

Ah...bit by the "Advanced" tab yet again. It really frustrates me that many setup tabs only have 80-90% of the functionality their name implies. Is the "typical user" really going to understand everything on the "Infill" tab but be unable to comprehend "Thin Wall B...

Why are thin walls sliced with infill?

I'm printing a structure with many thin walls (about 1.75mm wide). My extrusion width is 0.35mm, so the wall is about 5 lines wide. However it only prints 2 lines on each side, and then it jiggles the heck out of my printer with 0.35mm wide infill: Why.png I've tried varying the Outline/Perimeter Sh...

Re: Tip of the Day 18 - Advanced Tab, a technical analysis

Hopefully you'll update this in a bit for the new setting on 3.0+ on Movement Behavior. I'd like to get a bit more explanation on that (though I may come back myself if I find a great answer to share here). I'll second that. I'd like to understand exactly what the "Maximum allowed detour facto...

More Optimization? Less Over-Optimization?

I'm not sure exactly how to describe this. I'm printing a medallion with about 0.75mm of raised text on top. As usual, S3D does an amazing job, but I noticed something a little odd that, if changed, might produce slightly better, faster prints. Here's a text layer (there are 5 layers of text, all ve...

+1 for pausing at a height and/or a layer.

Re: BUG REPORT: Shouldn't my raft include supports?

Just wanted to close this out. S3D support quickly got back to me and suggested several changes which basically did the trick (though I still believe some of them should be addressed in a future S3D revision). Here's what they suggested (they also helpfully sent me a factory file with these changes)...

[SOLVED] BUG REPORT: Shouldn't my raft include supports?

Printing the ole NCC-1701 and trying a vertical approach to save plastic. Want a raft and obviously have to have supports. But why doesn't Simplify put a raft under ALL my supports? no support for supports 1.jpg no support for supports 2.jpg I think I know why, and it's a bug. There are 3 processes ...

Re: Help printing sections with different settings

OK, I found the problem. Turns out the order you put the processes in matters. This order works: order of processes.jpg The order that didn't work was: Pylons Bottom Top Even though the processes had the information about what layers they should be used on, it looks like Simplify got confused when t...
