Re: BUG: Cooling M106 occurs before starting scripts

Hi, Layer 1 print cooling fan setting (M106) is inserted into gcode before starting scripts, potentially being altered by starting scripts, and not corrected for subsequent layers. Fan is set to S0 when using 0% for layer 1. So the fan should not be spinning at all... Furthermore, if layer 2+ is set...

Re: Skipping 1st support layer???

Think I found the STL: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3416444/files
(Hint, line #2: "to print the case put it on the back as shown")

I'd print it that way, like suggested, avoiding supports completely:

Re: Skipping 1st support layer???

Hi, I have looked at the layers 1 by 1 in preview mode and think layer 8 is where the support should start, but is instead doing only a wall which leaves open area and the next layer has nothing to attach to. Layer 7 finished the last base layer and 8 is starting the walls. I have attached a picture...

Re: Subtle Problem (Sort of a bug...)

Things are a bit better, but still no where near as clean as they were before I unsuppressed the retractions. Then, I changed the Extra Restart Distance from -0.1 mm to 0, and got this: Thanks for posting the pictures, I could imagine them being linked to often in discussions about retractions... ^...

Re: make solid object made only of walls

You won't need to adjust extrusion width for the whole print this way.... It's both a single parameter which has to be changed, so I wonder what the benefit is of enabling single extrusion infill on an object like this? I created a 4x4 grid using 2.4mm walls. This is the preview when using auto (0....

Re: make solid object made only of walls

Depends on how thick the walls are. If they're 2mm you should be fine using an extrusion width of 0.5mm and two perimeters.

Re: Subtle Problem (Sort of a bug...)

I had high hopes for shutting off the "Only retract when crossing open spaces" option. It had almost no discernible effect on the defects, and introduced all sorts of issues in the details of the text. I tried to mimic your settings (0.4mm extrusion width, 0.2mm layer height) and I'm not ...

Re: Subtle Problem (Sort of a bug...)

Experimental results: This is why we can't have nice theories... :D Try disabling the "Only retract when crossing open spaces"-option. This will make the slicer add retracts before changing positions while doing the solid infill parts. If retracts are set up right it should be hard to tel...

Re: Subtle Problem (Sort of a bug...)

Hi, I've noticed you have the "Only retract when crossing open spaces" option enabled (Advanced-Tab -> Ooze Control Behavior). This would explain some traces: retr3.jpg retr1.JPG There's no retract here. So although you have Z-Lift enabled the material is "dragged" along and miss...

Re: Corners Bigger Than Body

I knew from previous tests that these retract distances wouldn't be good, but I ran them anyway: 0.3mm, 0.6mm, 0.9mm, 1.2mm. My next set was 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 2.1mm, 2.4mm. Oh, sorry. Didn't mean you'd have to use those values, they were in a good range to go from "needs more" to "too mu...
