Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Just a quick note: Apparently Version 4.0 has no trouble loading a file saved in 4.1. I closed 4.1, and opened 4.0, and it immediately loaded the file I had just been working with. I've got the G-code on an SD card, and will run a print as soon as the machine is available. Just got the print finish...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Thanks! I don't think getting the first layer down is the issue, but I went to take a picture of the bottom, and I made a discovery (or two...). Here's what the bottom of the print looks like: Gaps Viewed From Below.jpg The filament looks like it's sticking down OK, but what I noticed is that the un...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Assume that you are delighted with the build surface and have tried on different areas of bed. Would definitely try stepping down 0.05mm at start of print to ensure a bit of elephant's foot and that everything is properly squished. If the slicer is really in line of fire then how about checking the...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

One last question.. are you still printing at 66mms.. if so pleas try 40 just for fun.. wiping melted plastic around a corner at high speed will stretch it out Yes, but when I printed using your settings (which were much slower), it made no difference. I am going to reconfigure my M2 to print your ...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Thanks for the suggestions. The third photo in my post above is using your factory file settings. It made no significant difference in the gaps. I set my extrusion multiplier using a 3 perimeter cal cube. The "squish" should be included. This does require about a 2% extrusion multiplier increase ove...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Thanks for the comments & ideas. I've had the same defects with two different spools of filament; a well use black that had been exposed to humidity for a while, and a brand new spool of blue, both PLA+. Although the problem is often worst on curves, there are also places where it does it on straigh...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

OK, test print is done. You can see where the infil is attempting to attach to the perimeter in a few places, but it's not really doing anything to close the gaps, especially between the perimeter passes: Gap Test 5 (75% Infil Overlap).jpg I just started a 16 hour print job, so I have some time to p...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

I can try it, but the gaps are between perimeter passes. An infil overlap of 70% isn't going to extend past the inner perimeter pass, so it shouldn't reach the gap. I suppose having that extra material might push the inner perimeter pass over a bit. I'll try anything at this point... Thanks! Update:...

Re: Gaps in Perimeters (Again)

Here's a factory file with both my current best process, and Airscape's process, using the same model.
