Cut model to print only a section

I have a model where I want a round magnet to to have a nice press fit into the PLA. Instead of printing the whole model, I'd like to just print part of it so I can test the fit. I'd like to define a plane that would cut the model and let me choose to print just part of the model. Does Simplify3D ha...

Re: Z-axis not locked

I think I figured out the root cause of my problem. I found out there is a bug in the Replicator 2 where the z-axis doesn't always lock. This was fixed in Sailfish 7.7 - although apparently it's not a Sailfish bug, but Sailfish was able to to a fix. I've upgraded from Sailfish 7.6 to 7.7 and that s...

Re: Feature Request - Lay Flat

I was listening to the 3D Printing Today podcast #81 and they talked about a couple tips that can help with this. First, to see if you model is flat or not, you can preview the first layer. I haven't tried this yet and I'm not sure how to do it, but I assume it's easy. If your model isn't flat, you ...

Re: Remaining time to end print

You have to be printing a file that includes time information. How do files get this info, does the slicer figure it out? Unfortunately, the x3g files do not support this so you will only see percentages, and not a physical time remaining. ReplicatorG has a time remaining displayed. So it must be p...

Re: Remaining time to end print

I only see percent complete, I don't see remaining time anywhere. Does Simplify 3D have this somewhere?

Re: Infill layers loose

you dont make that measurement your extrusion width. you need to raise or lower you extrusion multiplier until the cal cube wall equals your extrusion width you have set. Oh, okay. My cube finished and the wall thickness does vary my a little bit. I took 3 measurements from each side, the average i...

Re: Infill layers loose

I think the printer put down two solid layers then the loose layer is the first infill layer, so it would be layer #3. My starting z is set to zero. I haven't printed a calibration cube. I ever used one before. After a couple searches on this forum, it looks like you print the cube and measure the w...

Infill layers loose

I'm new to Simplify 3D and I'm trying to get it to work on my Replicator 2. I just did a print where the infill layers were not sticking to each other, and the printer started air-printing so I cancelled the job. For the most part I'm using the default value in Simplify 3D for a Replicator 2. I have...
