Re: So, `Extrusion Multiplier` stopped working today...

Support got back with me. Entirely user error. My Replicator2x is a dual head machine, although I rarely ever use the left extruder, I always print out of the right. When you open the FFF Settings menu, the left (non-printing) extruder is selected by default, and that's the one I've been changing (t...

So, `Extrusion Multiplier` stopped working today...

Long time S3D user. Got some new filament today, and started making calibration cubes to dial in the extrusion multiplier on the new filament. Four cubes in with no change on my wall thickness I started scratching my head. So, I made one gcode with an EM of 1.0, and another one with an EM of 1.2 : I...

Re: Overhangs not being supported

Yep: Looking at those models, S3D will have all sorts of problems supporting them. I still use S3D as my main slicer, but whenever I have any remotely non-simple models, I have to do all my support placement by hand (which can still fail if I miss something). Still a major missing feature ins this s...

Bad RRF firmware retractions using M101/M102/M103

Crosspost from: https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?pid=37648#p37648 Community FYI post I'd been doing test getting firmware retraction hooked up in RepRapFirmware. As a baseline I first tested using S3D's software retraction. Then using the trick where you write a little text-replace script in ...

Re: Recommend 3D modeling software for OSX

Depends on your use case; Tinkercad runs in browser, and while is very 'simple', is a great starting point for people. Meshmixer isn't specifically for printing, but it's free, and provides a nice suite of freeform poly modeling tools (I used it on my mac in the past). If you're looking to do more '...

Re: Respect endstops in RepRepFirmware when jogging?

I can 'sort of' answer this : If you set a M208 in your config.g (which sets your axis maximums), and then home , after the homing operation, the min\max values are set, and it won't go crashing around into things. Not perfect, but better than nothing. If there's a better way to do it (so you don't ...

Respect endstops in RepRepFirmware when jogging?

I'd posted this question over on the Duet3d forums (home of RepRap Firmware), currently not coming up with much, thought I'd check here too. https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?id=2617 Anyone who uses RepRapFirmware know how to configure S3D so that its jog controls (via the Machine Control Pane...

+1 This. There's a single checkbox for this in Slic3r, would be nice to have this mirrored in S3D.

Re: Coasting Distance: Has no effect?

Contacted S3D Support: With really big vals, like 5mm and greater, I'm starting to see some effect. Guess I didn't aim big enough to start.
