Re: quality of bottom and top faces of a tube ( vertical )

Recognize there will be artifacts of the process and the Top Layer on perimeter walls will expose the wall’s shells (even on a Flat surface the wall shells will show). Below photo of Circular parts with closed top layer (meaning, closed Shell walls, no gaps). The Black part shows the Bottom surface,...

Re: how to flatten the top of a model

Post your original Artwork, DXF, whatever you can and resulting .STL file. Most CAD programs have tools to Extrude an image, DXF... Extruding is what you want to do - i.e., taking Text or a graphic and extruding it uniformaly so as to make a Stamp. If you post the file, I’ll take a look at doing it....

Re: Easiest 3D modeling software?

Coming from 25yrs of ‘All’ the CAD programs such as SolidWorks, Pro-E... list goes on... Being retired, I now use only FreeCad and it does Everything from CNC gcode to highly complex 3D models for 3D printing (good plug-ins for Gcode, Gears, Screws/Nuts...). Sure, it has some shortcomings and a conf...

Re: New User Had a Print Quality Question

Fairly easy to solve - recommend looking at the Quality printing guide... The upshot - dial in the Overlap and Infill settings. Fill-in residual holes/gaps by having nice bottom and top layers. I make many gears (example images below). I use two processes for gears: One for the teeth and Another for...

Re: [MultiProcess] - Insert M-Command at the beginn and at the end

In part, success will depend on Print Firmware type. This works on my two Marlin firmware machines. Not sure about Repeteir firmware. M600 does not always work well for me. Therefore, I use M0 combined with G1 . M0 is the command to ‘Stop and enable Resuming’ upon pressing the button - Works like Ma...

Re: How to successfully pause 3D printing and turn off

The answer to your question is “Yes” . It is possible to Pause, turn-off machine and Resume the next day where you paused. There are Two ways of doing it (AFIK) and both can be done successfully. And, may depend on your printer. # 1 - The Easy Way (I recommend this way, Does not depend on printer) ...

Re: Ability to measure STLs, hole sizes, and bottom surface

I wrote an App to measure Any graphic for which only one dimension is known. The graphic can be an STL The primary purpose at the time was to measure electronic parts but, it works for any graphic or 'whatever' on your monitor. Example of using it in Simplify, below...
