Re: Process versus Profiles etc

I've been using profiles to save filament and print settings. For instance ABS, Black, .4 nozzle, .2 layer height, 5400mm/min, Detailed (40% underspeed perimeters) is named "ABS_Black_N4_LH2_SpeedHi_Detailed.fff". I pick this and adjust some minor settings like Z-offset, Brim/Skirt, Suppor...

Re: Why switch to Simplify3D?

I agree with what folks have mentioned in the thread. If you're new to 3D printing, its probably okay to stay with Matter Control or Cura. Once you get a grip of one or both of those, comeback to look at S3D. It may fill some gaps or open up some ideas about how to better slice. Some distinctions fo...

Re: Brim acting weird

Hmm... interesting. I've experienced this on a bed that was too cold or still heating up. Obvious fix there was to with for proper pre-heat. :) The other thought could be to increase the first layer height and width for better adhesion... Though if its not affecting the first layer of the print, I w...

Re: Banding at regular intervals?

Any chance you have a solid infill layer setup at specific intervals?

Re: My supports need supports!

A bit unorthodox, by try rotating the bust upside down. The beard with all the intricacy would print much better.

Another orientation could be the back of the head on the bed...

Re: Brim acting weird

Is it the same spot on the bed? Maybe a good cleaning will help.

If not, seems as though it may be a cold spot on the bed... IR thermometer could help diagnose.

Re: Supports wraping up

Is there a pattern to which corner warps up? Here are some ideas: - Try re-leveling the bed... maybe one side is lower than the other resulting in poor adhesion - Increase the first layer extrusion temp. Given you have good adhesion, a higher temp will help the filament stay molten and lay on the be...

Re: Brim / Support adhesion to bed

I'd actually like this to be an option. Since the brim and support are sacrificial, for adhesion of small parts and priming the hotend. I want the print to be slow based on the initial layer speed, but the rest at the normal print speed.

Re: More options for stronger infill.

I'm of the camp to increase outer shells and top/bottom to strengthen the part, with the infill for support of top layers. 2mm seems to be the sweet spot for the filament I'm using (eSUN ABS). Divide by the layer height or extrusion width to get the propoer number of shells and layers.
