I've also found it useful to add cooling to small features like that. Basically, the plastic is still melted when the next pass comes around, and it just makes a mess.

Re: Paid upgrade For 2020 upcoming Version 5.0

Also negative talk that updates will never happen isn't helping anybody and not based on facts. How about the "fact" that we were promised Version 5 in 2019. Three and a half months after the end of the year, we have not ONE shred of evidence that we will see it: A) soon, B) at a reasonable price, ...

Re: Need help modifying a factory file change STL without changing the factory file

This is one my my biggest gripes with S3D. If I have to make a minor change to a model, they need a "replace" command so that I don't have to redo things like process assignments, support settings, rotation, placement etc. etc. This has been requested time & time again, and it SHOULD be in Version 5...

Re: Paid upgrade For 2020 upcoming Version 5.0

It's not worth much. Lots of noise about how wonderful it's going to be, and not ONE scrap of real information on features, release date, or pricing. It's nice to know they are still alive, but it's no better than all the other "announcements" about version 5 we've been getting for the last year. At...

Re: Paid upgrade For 2020 upcoming Version 5.0

I just did a search on "simplify3d bankruptcy" and came up empty, so if they've folded, they did it REALLY quietly. Also, "bankruptcy" isn't a very precise term. There's Chapter 11 & Chapter 7, depending on how bad things are & whether they are giving up or just looking for some temporary relief fro...

Re: Stringing and inconsistent layers

PETG is notorious for generating stingy bits. You will probably have to increase your retraction settings, and then play with extra restart distance.

Re: Paid upgrade For 2020 upcoming Version 5.0

Well, a quarter of 2020 is now officially past, and there hasn't been one scrap of info from S3D about version 5.0...

I really don't want to have to change slicers, but they aren't exactly giving people any other choice.

Re: Inset Text on Top Layer Full of Voids

Well, after several days of trying all sorts of things, I finally came up with a combination that worked. From the original file, the only settings i had to change were: Under the Extruder settings: RetractionDistance: from 0.6 to 0.7 ExtraRestartDistance: from -0.2 to +0.07 Under Infill: OutlineOve...

Re: Paid upgrade For 2020 upcoming Version 5.0

Don't hold your breath... We've been begging for ANY real information for over a year since Version 5 was first mentioned. The last official word was over 3 months ago, and again, provided no concrete info on features, schedule or pricing.

Re: STL Files for Temperature Bracketing

Zemlin: Very slick (as usual)! Do you use an particular infill and/or wall thickness? I've been trying to come up with calibration/tuning parts for different slicer settings, and these will get added to my collection. For example, while printing single wall calibration cubes to set my extrusion mult...
