Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

I bet the problem is that none of us who purchased S3D before 2020 are paying customers. We once were paying customers on the day we purchased it, but we no longer are paying customers. The model of "free software updates for life" is nice for marketing for a new software company, but--esp...

Re: Is Simplify3D worth the cost?

@parallyze, I looked into it again, and Prusa Slicer still does not have coast. The screenshot you showed does not do the same thing. The request for it is being +1'd regularly: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/246 (In that link, somebody shows a screengrab of the same setting you poste...

Re: Is Simplify3D worth the cost?

I will take that correction, and give it a try again. In an instance like this, it's nice to be wrong...probably outdated info on my part. I tried Prusa slicer over a year ago, and could not find coast or wipe, so I searched...IIRC, I found a forum thread where Prusa themselves said they would not a...

Just be aware that Prusa slicer does not include coast or wipe, so it is only suitable for controllers with pressure advance.

Re: RE: We're hiring!

It actually looks like he created a whole new post...presumably to mock the release of 5.0...rather than replied to a post on the front page. (There is no "we are hiring" as the first post in this thread!)

Re: Any chance of a version 4.2 release??

Even if they switch to target the farms with monthly rates, they've managed this so poorly--both in the communication department and abandoning 4.1--that their reputation has taken such a hit that they might struggle to get any trust (or cash).

Re: Giving Up on S3D

I logged in for the first time in six weeks, and there are posts in only 4 or 5 threads... Most people don't announce their departure. Cura is fine, with an interface that isn't as good. It has some nice features, and misses one or two. Prusa doesn't have coast & wipe because their printer has p...

Re: Surface roughness and bubbles

Are you using OctoPrint, or any other intermediary hardware?

Re: printing hole for motor shaft

The first thing I would do is to modify the part so that the hole is much deeper ....so the bottom of the hub almost reaches the gearbox frame. Those motor/gearbox combos do have an enormous flat milled in the shaft, and to get a well aligned fit, you do need the hub right down on the shaft where t...

Re: Any chance of a version 4.2 release?

I hope so, too, but even if they do, we probably won't get to use it. They are headed down the saas rabbit hole targeting monthly fees from farms. There's no incentive to cater to us, since they already got our money. Just look at the number of new forum users per month from, arbitrarily, 2017, vs n...
