Feature request: Convex hull skirt

I'd prefer if skirts were simply in the shape of the convex hull of the lowest print layer instead of having all those corners, interior shapes, etc. Since the purpose is to get the extrusion working properly a convex hull will be a smoother operation and have a better result.

Not to mention saving a lot of filament, time, and reducing the print area with only one skirt. This is ridiculous:

jspiro - just move those blocks closer together or increase your skirt offset. Then it will combine everything into one skirt.

If you place 2 objects with 10mm or spacing between them, and then only have a skirt offset of 4mm, you are going to get 2 skirts, because those objects aren't close enough together to use the same skirt.

I didn't realize it would combine skirts. I just used the defaults -- I replicated the object and let it auto arrange on the plate. The skirts are 1.8mm from the object. Is there something I'm missing short of manually moving them closer?

Either manually move each model so the gaps are less......or increase the gap between the skirt and the model in the settings until the skirts merge.

I would also love to have convex skirts as an option. It's not just about printing multiple parts. Often a single pat has multiple features which make the skirt longer and have more unnecessary corners. Increasing the distance from part helps sometimes, but that also increases the length of the skirt, or might even not fit on the print bed.
