Support for Polygon (PLY) format?

I just found out about a public domain 3D scanned objects database at http://redwood-data.org/3dscan/index.html It looks like a great place to find "stuff" to use in my models. The objects are available in PLY format which seems to be similar to STL. Is there any plan on supporting PLY format?

Not sure if they plan on supporting it or not. it seems like every so often I stumble upon another 3D Model format like amf or 3mf etc. In the interim, a quick search showed there are a couple PLY to STL converters, so you can try those out if you want to print those PLY files out right now
