Re: Slow down for small loops?

Could someone please post a link to the mac version of the little app that can change the speed - the original is dead.
Thanks heaps.

Simplify3D should manage speed based on islands NOT layers.

Check my post here a few months ago : viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4809

I don't even know what speed based on layers can be used for...
I completely disabled this option from all my configs because it usually creates worst looking prints.
Every other slicers out there implements speed changes based on island not layers.

Can you please let me know how to get your app for Mac?

I'm also struggling with small parts of the print at high speeds.

I see the link earlier in the thread was updated very recently, but it doesn't launch on my Mac. I think the App bundle is missing some files. Here's the pertinent bit from the error message:

Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries

Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: @rpath/QtWidgets.framework/Versions/5/QtWidgets
Referenced from: /Users/USER/Downloads/SlowDownForSmallLoops.app/Contents/MacOS/gcodeModify

The new one executes just fine. I didn't actually run a file through it.

Re: Slow down for small loops?

Thankyou so much!
Could you give any suggestions on settings on a Rep2, printing at 120mm/s?

Have you thought about approaching S3D about including it as a post processor?

Or is there any way to add it to the various gcode places already in S3D?

Re: Slow down for small loops?

Ha thanks guys, it's a pretty buggy script as it is. I'm glad it's helped some people. If S3D wants to include something similar they certainly could.

Re: Slow down for small loops?

Are you able to give me some parameters for length and speed to get started with?

Re: Slow down for small loops?

Greg,

S3D already does a great job of slowing down parts automatically for cooling. And where it doesn't slow down things, MakerBot's/Sailfish's firmware will also enforce some basic speed and acceleration limitations. If you're having issues with your printer moving too fast and messing up smaller features I'd always recommend checking firmware's acceleration values prior to taking an extra step with every G-code file you produce and then taking another step to convert that into X3G. If you simply give your printer a slower acceleration setting you'll likely not need to mess with anything else.

I made this app as more of a proof that it could be done. I haven't really needed to use it in my own prints, if that tells you anything.
