Dual Extrusion- Nesting Parts

Hello,

I am trying to do some dual extrusion using the wizard. Everything works well, except when I group the parts, they do not snap together perfectly as they do in the video. Is there a manual way to mate parts together or align them perfectly?

Any pointers are welcome!

You can use the Edit > Align Selected Model Origins command.

But keep in mind they will only align correctly if there were modeled with the same coordinate system origin in the CAD software (i.e. the 0,0,0 location was the same relative to both models when they were exported)

If you want to quickly confirm if your alignment is correct you can select both models, hold shift, and click center and arrange. If they become offset, they're not aligned correctly in their original coordinate system.

I have a model whereby I need to nest parts and print different processes
Its modelled in Inventor in the correct position...you can see the second model in blue outline



When I import, they are not in the correct position
I apply reset position



Then align objects



no go.
I have tried importing the combined pieces (2 separate bodies and using separate connected, which would make a lot of sense. It works if I have a small test model but not on this model? I can still see the 2 elements but no separation can be applied? I guess they must lay within tolerance.

For modelling purposed, the general form is just a 10 layer perimeter etc...then reinforcing sections are modelled separately depending on requirements so I would like to keep the same workflow where I simply apply solid print parameters to specific objects
