Large file

How to view a large file that is outside of the printer area. The file is 5421KB and cannot load because of the size. It ends up locking up my PC every time.

Re: Large file

This happens to me all the time. In fact, It happened to me tonight, as I loaded an old file.

My solution my not be yours, however.

In my 3D program I created a boundary box that fit the limits of my printer as well as the software.

I saved it and called it Sizer.

Now, whenever I create a new build, I open "Sizer" and do a "save as" and save the file.

That way, anything I create always fits on the build plate.

If I bring in an old model from "pre-3D printing days" I simply paste it into my "Sizer" on a different layer and rescale it to fit the build plate.

I know this sounds REALLY simple, but what you describe sounds like what I do if I'm not thinking about it...and then it crashes my program. And then I say "OY" and do the above.

Re: Large file

That sounds like a great work around. I will see if i can make a boundary box in DesignSpark Mechanical, as that is my preferred CAD ware.
