Use different nozzles for dense and sparse support

Soluble support is expensive compared to most filaments used with them. It would save quite a bit of money if we had the option of using the primary printing filament for sparse support layers and only use the secondary filament, like soluble material, as the dense layers. This should provide the same excellent support while significantly reducing cost.

Of course for anything with internal or difficult to reach structures this wouldn't be useful.

You can do this with multi extruder printers.
Under the supports section you can assign the extruder to the support type.

wirlybird is correct. This was added in version 4.0.0, https://www.simplify3d.com/software/rel ... ion-4-0-0/
