Need a start-script/advice

Sun Dec 15, 2019 1:59 pm

Hello to all:

Could someone provide me with a start script/code that will do this:

viewtopic.php?t=5665

I am getting back into 3d printing after several years away. I am helping someone set-up and use a nice FDM printer and Simplify3d, but the starting method is just garbage.

almost 10 years ago I was using a Makerbot Replicator, and the post I listed above is EXACTLY what I want. Spit out a small blob of plastic and then move (while extruding) to the start of the part, skirt, raft, whatever.

**begin rant** I remember it worked GREAT, and this "new way" of 'gradually' spitting out plastic right at the start of the skirt is just plain awful, because YES, THE SKIRT WILL RIP ITSELF UP WITHOUT PRIMING -FIRST-! The skirt should NOT BE USED FOR PRIMING right at the very beginning!! ARRRRRGH! **end rant**

Yeeesh, that was posted over four years ago and they haven't figured out how to just ADD IT AS A FEATURE. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Maybe this is just printer specific as I believe this is in the default profile for the M2, but this is how mine primes and have never had any issues.
G28 ; home all axes
G1 Y50 Z0.3 F9600 ; move forward to avoid binder clips
G1 X205 Z10 ; move off platform
G1 Z0.4 ; position nozzle
G92 E0 ; zero extruder
G1 E25 F225 ; purge nozzle
G92 E0 ; zero extruder
