ctrl+s / ctrl+shift+s

they currently do the same thing. not sure if that's intentional or redundant, but i think ctrl+s should just save what i'm working on and not question what i'm trying to do...

Can't confirm CTRL+S and CTRL+SHIFT+S doing the same. When working and pressing CTRL+S it simply saves the current
factory file and confirms this in the status bar, CTRL+SHIFT+S brings up the expected "Save as..."-dialog...

S3D v4.1.2 / Win10 Pro 2004 x64

So CTRL+S does bring up the "Save as..."-dialog for you each time?

this happens when i've left a factory file open for a long time. i know for a fact that the file i was working on was a previously saved file because of the amount of objects and processes i had in it.

perhaps this happens when i close and re-open S3D, my previous factory file is still loaded onto the work space, when i try to hit ctrl+s it prompts me for a file name, which does not help me when i save multiple factory files with the same models and processes and name it based on which thing i changed last.

Yes.

No.

S3D restores the last state, it does not reopen the last factory file. You can disable "Save and restore application state" in "General Options -> Preferences -> General Preferences" to make S3D start with an empty workspace, like other applications.

I have autosave, but still smash ctrl + s every time I edit anything.

Ctrl-Shift-S is already used for "Save All" (i.e. to save multiple unsaved files) by both Microsoft and non-Microsoft apps.
