Settings for Wanhao Duplicator i3?

My new Wanhao i3 will be arriving in about a week and I was wondering about configuring Simplify to work properly with it. From what I've hear this printer has moved a lot of units during the pre-sale, so hopefully there will be some advanced users who figure out the best settings fairly quickly and share with the community.

Re: Settings for Wanhao Duplicator i3?

i have a few reprap style printers (wanhao i3 is a reprap style printer based off prusa i3) and a few non standard ones (portabee go!) and I always use the "other" configuration, i acutally have a template fff of a basic "other" profile that i modify and then save as a new fff and import it anytime i get a new printer. works well for me, there's a tod for new printers too:

I would go that route with the new wanhao i3. seeing as it is direct drive, you probably won't have to fudge around with too many settings.

I hope to be getting mine soon. Yet to receive any confirmation as to a firm shipment date, though.

This is my first post here on this forum.

Hope that these links help you out! I just found these links only a couple of mins ago when searching for the same information.

I just got my machine 2 days ago, and am experimenting with it. I am very new to this world of 3D printing, so finding a way to keep it simple helps. Honestly, WanHao should have included setup files and info of our printboards on the SD Card besides a copy of Cura.

Personally, I am finding that I like the way that Repetier-Host and Slic3r work compared to Cura to create G-Code files. At this time I am only using the SD Card method, not the USB Cable method to start printing. One other thing that has been bugging me is that I am having issues with the G-Code not warming up the bed or extruder, however it may be my malfunction, lol.

I want to try out Simplify3d, first I want to see them offically list the Duplicator i3 on their site, and also I want to be able to try the software first, $149 is a lot of coin sight unseen.

My office has had the new Wanhao I3 for a few weeks now. We did what BaudR8 said to do, (use the configuration assistant-->other) and it has been working quite well with S3D.

Hope this helps you make that decision.

Darth Revan,

Do you mind sharing your FFF profile here? I've been using the one off 3dprinterbrain's site but I'd be curious what you ended up with.

Thanks!
