Request for FORUM (not Creator!)

I don't know if you can do anything about the phpBB software regarding this, but this is my pet peeve with the forum website. I have this (hopefully not annoying) tendency to write rather long replies to posts -- hopefully in a helpful fashion! (I'm guessing you've all noticed.) I'm usually typing on my small notebook keyboard. I'll accidentally bump Caps Lock once in a while, which is no biggie. But if I accidentally bump TAB (moving focus out of the text edit box), then reflexively hit BACKSPACE to recover, I'm am bumped off the page, losing what I had been typing. Usually right before I 'finish'.... of course.

After cursing :x , pounding my fist on the table, etc. , I'll open up a text editor, re-compose my post (forgetting, of course, to retype something important that I lost the first time!), then copy, paste into the text edit box, and submit.

Is there any way to keep from closing the page and navigating back when I hit the backspace key outside the text editor when posting a topic or reply?

(Or should I just type shorter replies and/or take a typing course!?)

NO, that was NOT the start of a POLL!

This has happened to me before too. I have even had the unlucky coincidence where the internet goes down right as I click submit.

I don't think there's anything you can do to prevent what TAB does, but writing up the posts in an external text editor sounds like a great idea!

I know that feeling, it really is infuriating!

A forum I frequent actually auto-saves thread replies automatically and saves them as drafts until submitted. It's a sponsor-funded forum though so that may allow them some perks like that, I don't have a clue as to how this stuff works. Yet. :)
