Re: v2.0 changes and tutorials

Looks like some good stuff in here for the upgrade, but I'm still disappointed that I'm not seeing something like hexagonal infill patterns. That would be really nice and I can't imagine it would be super hard to do.

Re: v2.0 changes and tutorials

Can you point me to information on getting this helical "vase" mode working?

I recall there are some settings and circumstances that prevent it from working, but I can't find any information on it. The software isn't telling that the setting is being ignored or why.

Re: v2.0 changes and tutorials

The latest version 2.1.0 is out and I think there were some improvements to assist with vase mode. So make sure to download it first http://www.simplify3d.com/downloads/

Here are the steps, but note that the software is going to tell you something like "vase mode requires several changes which will be overridden - is that OK?", and then you can just say yes! Almost like the software has a friendly Siri-person built in like an iPhone ;)

Find the vase mode in the layer tab (see screenshot with checkmark at the very bottom). When I look back, I can see that I had an error which was to place 3 solid layers on top, which would make it quite difficult to get into my vase. In any event, the software helps you because you'll see you get an alert (see screenshot 2) letting you know the software is going to override your oversights. Just like my oversight. Hope that helps!

Re: v2.0 changes and tutorials

It does not seem to override "Force retraction on layer change", so you should turn that off to prevent retractions.
