Move Simplify 3D Profiles and settings to new installation

Is there any way to copy S3D profiles and settings to a new installation?

I had to format the computer at the factory and had to migrate to a new installation. I would like to make the new installation a clone of the old one.

It's really an issue. I have every client project profile saved but without the profiles in S3D I can't check the receipts used.

There's a few options
1) You can use the File > Export FFF Profile and File > Import FFF Profile options to move the profiles between the computers
2) You can import the settings that were used for one of your past prints by going to File > Import FFF Profile and selecting a .gcode file (this is a very nice feature!)
3) You could also check out the link below which explains the locations for some of the other settings and files you may be able to transfer:

I don't understand why profiles are stored in registry (windows version).

I don't think anyone does. I have thought it may be due to the need to have cross-platform support for the code.....but who knows?

Re: Move Simplify 3D Profiles and settings to new installation

This is for a Windows machine, I do not have a solution for any other operating system.

I know this is an old post but it didn't have a solution. I was messing around and found some other posts talking about this registry location, again not marked as a solution to backing up Simplify3D settings or migrating between systems, so here it is. First off if you don't understand what comes next then you probably don't want to mess around with this because if you mess up the registry then you can mess up your machine. You want to open the registry editor, find this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Simplify3D and export it. Then just merge to your system after bare metal restore or to another system.
