[FIXED] Support Problems: Hovering and Skipping layers

I have an issue with supports skipping layers and other sections hovering in mid-air. Please see the attached photos and factory file.

Re: Support Problems: Hovering and Skipping layers

This model is the sort of model that automatically generated support will not work good enough on without you having to supplement the auto generated support with manual support. This is why the support under the leg is so tiny that the dense support seems not to have anything to support it.

Also, a separation distance of 0.4mm is spacing support too far away for it to be effective. And I've only been able to replicate the missing lines in the support by going back to an old version of S3D..v3.1

So, my recommendations are:

1) Upgrade to v4.0.1 if you're not using it already
2) Use the support generation tool to auto generate support then add support to places that need it & support hasn't been auto-genned
3) Reduce the support horizontal separation distance.

Re: [FIXED] Support Problems: Hovering and Skipping layers

I’m happy to state that this issue should be resolved now in the latest 4.1.0 release. Our team successfully tested three factory files from threads mentioning this issue. Gaps in supports when using processes with differing layer heights will not occur anymore. This was just one of many improvements to the software. All of which are detailed on our Release Notes page.

Thank you for your help reporting this issue!
