Infill overlap troubleshooting

Thu Aug 16, 2018 6:55 pm

Hi All

I've read through the troubleshooting guides. I believe I'm seeing some odd slicing behavior with respect to overlaps.

Using 4.0.1
25% outline overlap
4 perimeter shells

here's part I'm printing

Infill layer, notice both circled areas have 25% overlap

Solid infill layer, right circle has 25% overlap, left circle has a gap. While this area isn't visible once print is done, this gap allows for uneven shrinkage, which affects the finish.

Interesting!

Can you attach your factory file and g-code file then let me know what layers it is you're previewing?

I just stumbled across this thread. I've seen some similar weirdness at high infill. I'm using 80% infil and I've got my overlap set at 20% with a fast hex fill pattern. I can see a very visible gap between the infil and the perimeter walls on one side while it's printing. Using Preview, it looks like it's only occurring on alternating layers, but the actual print looked like none of the infil was even close to connecting on one side.

I tried cutting a few models apart to see if I could get a photo, but it looks like it's not very repeatable and I haven't found the right spot to cut.
