I have been fighting this one for some time. Using white PLA, eSun brand, I constantly get these areas of what appears to be under extruded lines. See where the red arrows are in picture. It is a bit hard to see in the picture but at these spots you can see the layer below.
Now, this is not printer specific. This example is on a Guider II.
I get the same results on different printers. It does appear to be mainly on flat surfaces. Other colors print fine.
Basic settings I have tried:
Nozzle - 0.4
Extrusion Multiplier - 0.9 - 1.0
Extrusion Width - 0.4 - 0.48
Speeds 35-40 mm/s
Temps 210-220
Basic retraction - 1mm at 30 mm/s
I have found the filament diameter to be vary inconsistent being as small as 1.65 up to 1.74.
It looks like it has times where the extrusion sort of stops or at least slows to leave a very thin extrusion.
I am not printing that fast but could it still be too fast?
It acts like when it gets to the thinner parts of the filament the extruder may be slipping a little slowing the extrusion.
Thanks for any thoughts or ideas I can try. I would even consider an upgrade/modified extruder drive assembly.
