Trouble printing a part that is partially recessed into another part.

Tue Mar 12, 2019 6:31 pm

I'm new to S3D and may be missing a setting. But in reading on the site I am not finding an answer. I am trying to print a part that is made up with 4 pieces. Two of the four part recess into the other two forming a solid part. Cura will slice it as a solid, but S3D is treating it like four pieces. If my photos stick it will be evident as to what I'm trying to do. The printed part came from Cura. I tried turning on Gap Fill to no avail.

Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming when you say this is made up of four parts, you mean four separate parts in your CAD package that are placed interleaved...and then you export to an .stl file.

If this is the case, simply use the Separate Connected Surfaces option on the Mesh dropdown to separate the four parts of the STL file back into four separate "models" within S3D. It will slice correctly then.

Glad to be of assistance...and that you got the part sliced okay!
