I've struggled with this since owning an MSI laptop and S3D. S3D will freeze at random points, it can be whilst importing a model or creating toolpath, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it freezes.
I've finally found a clue to what the problem has been. As soon as I kill Nahimic for MSI all my problems go away, in fact, if S3D is frozen killing Nahimic will unfreeze it instantly.
For a while I knew it was a conflict with some "bloatware" on my laptop since I solved it in the past by uninstalling every bit of bloatware on my laptop but trouble with that is I didn't identify which specific program was causing the issue. Having just recently performed a factory reset on my PC I did this in a more methodical manner and narrowed it down to Nahimic.
So. If you have an MSI computer and you're finding S3D freezes for no apparent reason, make sure Nahimic isn't running in the background! I hope this helps someone.
