At the start of each print, the nozzle moves to X=0,Y=0 and moves in X across the width of the bed. Could this move be eliminated?
My problem is that it hits my glass clamps.

Take a look at the Scripts tab in the process configuration. In there, you'll see a tab for ths start script. The offending commands are likely in that script if they're not burned into the firmware.
