.stl model missing parts when prepare to print

I have an .stl file that I've been printing on my old printer with no problems. Now I did a reset of my simplify3d when I bought a new printer and the same file looks strange when I try to prepare it for print. I'm obviously missing something simple but I can't figure out what it is.

Could you please post a Factory File for this? You can get this by going to File > Save Factory File As...

You can try selecting Separate Connected Surfaces in the Mesh menu.

...its either that (because there's more than one mesh in the shape file) or the stl is hollow with a very thin wall....in which case the Merge all shapes int a single solid model is the option to use.

PS Always best to explain why you're suggesting something....otherwise knowledge won't be spread!

I first tried to "Separate Connected Surfaces" which created an inverted copy of the model. This might work if i try to print the model but I feel a bit worried because it's two models involved...?

Then I tried "Identify non-manifold edges" which seems to do the trick. There seems to be one single solid model.

Where can I find the option "Merge all shapes int a single solid model"?

Thanx for all your suggestions and explaining!
